The holidays are a busy season with many people traveling to be with loved ones. While that time can be highly anticipated and beautiful for some, for others, this time of year can create anxiety.

You might feel a knot in your stomach or a sense of dread—and hey, that’s perfectly okay. No judgment here. You’re also not alone in those feelings. So many of us have complex relationships with family, which makes traveling home for the holidays a mixed bag. Here’s how to effectively set boundaries with family during the holidays while still enjoying your time.

Communicate and Set Expectations Clearly

The unique challenge about traveling home for the holidays is that everyone will have different expectations. It’s important to level set early on. By doing so, you ensure that there are fewer miscommunications and misunderstandings.

To set expectations, ask yourself these questions before you board the plane home:

  • Do you need or want a ride from the airport?
  • Where will you be staying during your time at home?
  • Would you like to spend your entire time at home with your family? Would you like to set aside time for friends, your immediate family, or for alone time?
  • Will you be home for every meal or are there certain days of the week when you will do your own thing?
  • Will you get a rental car, plan to share a family member’s car, or just hitch a ride with family?

Of course, your family might not be happy with how you spend your time. But your job isn’t to manage their feelings or disappointments. It’s simply to communicate.

Budget for Family Time and Alone Time

Family time is the crux of the holiday season. So we totally understand why time with loved ones is a priority. While family time is essential, don’t forget to set aside time for yourself and your immediate family. Whether it’s time to exercise, going to your favorite local restaurants, or getting outside in nature to see the sights, planning time apart from your larger family can be a life saver during the holidays. It’s also a chance to check in with yourself and your immediate family and gauge how everyone is doing.

Plan For Separate Lodging

Okay, this might sound harsh, but sometimes, booking separate lodging from your family during the holidays can make a world of difference. Cozying up with 12 people and three bathrooms under the same roof might sound nice. But after day five, it might get a little overwhelming. Instead, figure out the best plan for yourself and your immediate family. Whether you book a hotel or a cozy AirBnB, prioritize your peace of mind. There is nothing wrong with staying separate from your family during the holidays. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Be Firm on What You Will and Will Not Discuss

One of the best boundaries you can set with family during the holidays is topics of discussion. There is nothing more awkward than sitting around the family dinner table and that one uncle or aunt (you know the one) asks a question that makes the room come to a sudden stop.

So why are you dating anybody yet? You’re too beautiful to be single. When are you going to have kids? Have you started trying? How have you been doing since the divorce? We never liked your ex that much anyway.

Before you head to the family dinner table, decide what topics are off limits. Yes, you get to decide what you will and will not share. If someone brings up an off-limits topic, you can respond gently with, “I’d prefer not to talk about that, but tell me what’s been going on with you.” You might also say, “I don’t have any updates there, but I have been traveling the country and really excelling in my career.”

Steer the conversation away from topics that you don’t feel comfortable divulging. Focus on the topics you want to share.

Travel Outfit https://msrachelhollis.com/2025/11/19/travel-outfit/ Wed, 19 Nov 2025 22:14:26 +0000 https://msrachelhollis.com/?p=52639 What to Wear on a Plane: Cozy, Cute, and Completely Pulled Together

Let’s talk about the best travel outfit… at least according to me. If you’ve ever stood in front of your closet the night before a trip thinking, What do normal humans wear to the airport?, you are not alone. Travel outfits are a whole category of their own. You want to be comfortable enough to sit for hours, warm enough for unpredictable airplane temps, and still feel like the best version of yourself while you’re rolling through the terminal.

After years of flying for work, for book tours, and for fun, I’ve figured out a few simple guidelines that keep me comfortable and polished every time. Think of this as travel advice from a friend who has learned through many, many boarding groups.

Start With Layers You Can Count On

Airport air conditioning has a mind of its own. You might be hot one minute and freezing the next. Add in perimenopausal temperature fluctuation to that… layers are gonna be your best friend.

I like to create a sort of, 7-Layer Dip of clothing. I start with a fitted tank or tee, a soft long-sleeve or lightweight sweater, and then a jacket that looks great but doesn’t make you feel bulky. I love a packable jacket for this. I’ve had a green one from Madewell for almost a decade and my newest from Jarbo is magic. You can roll them into a ball, toss them in your tote, and somehow they come out looking great. If you’ve ever wondered what sorcery feels like, it’s that.

what to wear to the airport

Choose Pants You Can Move In (But Not Sleep In!)

This is my gentle—but firm—travel rule: your pants should stretch and move with you, but still look like you’re headed somewhere, not like you rolled out of bed.

Here are refined options that always work:

  • Tailored knit trousers
  • Soft ponte pants with structure
  • High-quality straight or wide-leg denim with stretch
  • Polished pull-on trousers that read elevated but feel easy

These pieces are comfortable without looking like loungewear. You can sit comfortably for hours, but you wouldn’t feel tempted to nap in them. That’s the sweet spot.

Shoes That Love You Back

You’ll walk more than you expect on any travel day. Between security, gate changes, and the never-ending hunt for a decent airport salad, your shoes matter.

Great options include:

  • Clean sneakers that look intentional
  • Soft loafers
  • Flat boots or low-heeled boots

Just make sure, if you don’t have pre-check that you get pre-check asap! But until then, choose shoe options for your travel outfit that are easy to slip off in the security line.

A Tote That Makes You Feel Put Together

Around here we love a good tote. It’s like a great assistant: it carries the chaos so you don’t have to.

I always look for one with a flat bottom because it sits securely on top of my carry-on. That small detail makes such a difference. No more wrestling your bag as it flops around while you’re trying to strut through terminal three.

Inside the tote:

  • Approximately 25 smaller bags to keep the tote organized
  • A couple pockets to find things quickly
  • Enough structure that it holds its shape
  • A strap that stays put over your shoulder

When your tote works, you work.

Travel Extras That Make the Day Easier

These little things make a big difference:

You’ll never regret being prepared.

The Heart of It All: Comfortable and Confident

Travel days can be stressful. Your travel outfit should be the easy part. You deserve to feel comfortable, capable, and put together from the moment you grab your suitcase until you arrive at your destination.

How to Take Yourself on an Artist Date and Why You’ll Thank Yourself Later https://msrachelhollis.com/2025/11/18/how-to-take-yourself-on-an-artist-date-2/ Tue, 18 Nov 2025 14:00:00 +0000 https://msrachelhollis.com/?p=52493 Have you reached a point of burnout or mental and emotional exhaustion where you’ve completely lost your creative spark? The creative juices just aren’t flowing like they used to. If so, it’s time to talk about something wildly important for your creative life, and wildly overlooked by, well… most of us: the artist date. It’s not fluff. It’s not indulgent, and it’s not “when you have time.” The artist date is essential.

Whether you’re a painter, a writer, a dancer, a photographer, or someone just trying to feel alive again—the artist date is a creative power move that can unblock inspiration, rekindle joy, and remind you who you are when the world’s noise gets too loud.

So, What Is an Artist Date?

Author of The Artist’s Way, Julia Cameron, coined the term “artist date,” which is a weekly solo expedition—a date with your inner artist. It’s a time to woo your creative self, to play, to explore, and to fill the well so you’re not creating from a dry, cracked riverbed of burnout.

And here’s the key: It must be solo. You do not take anyone on this artist date but you and your inner artist, a.k.a. your creative child. This is about nurturing your creative spirit. No friends, partners, or podcasts with someone else’s thoughts and opinions playing in your ear the whole time. Just you, your curiosity, and your willingness to say yes to wonder.

A Step-by-Step for Taking Yourself on an Artist Date

1. Commit to It Like a Real Date

You have to make your artist date a priority. If you wouldn’t flake on a coffee with a friend or a dinner with someone you love, don’t flake on this. Pick a day and time, and put it in your calendar. Guard it like a dragon guards treasure. Defend this time against interlopers at all costs. You’re not being selfish—you’re being a good creative steward.

Pro tip: Even one hour is enough.

2. Choose Something That Sparks Curiosity

Here’s the fun part. This is not about being productive. It’s about delight, mystery, play, and exploration. Think small, weird, simple, or unexpected.

Some ideas for an artist date:

  • Visit a used bookstore and pick the strangest title you can find.
  • Take yourself to a hardware store and explore like it’s an art museum.
  • Sit in a park and sketch squirrels, clouds, feelings, or whatever comes to mind.
  • Go to a grocery store and buy a fruit you’ve never eaten before.
  • Visit a new art gallery at a local museum.
  • Go to a new coffee shop and people watch.
  • Take a walk in nature. Perhaps, try a path you’ve never taken before.
  • Make a collage with old magazines and glue sticks.
  • Take yourself to a silent movie or a vintage arcade.

This isn’t about “being an artist.” It’s about feeding the artist within.

3. Leave Expectations at the Door

This is not a to-do list item or a hustle move. No “I better get an idea out of this” pressure. Your only job is to show up—curious, open, and receptive. That’s it. Sometimes, you’ll come home buzzing with ideas. Other times, it might just feel nice. That’s still a win.

4. Be Present With Yourself

Put your phone away unless you’re using it to take photos or notes intentionally. Avoid distractions. This is about engaging your senses—seeing, hearing, touching, even smelling things you’d usually rush past. You’re not escaping your life—you’re enriching it.

5. Reflect Without Judging

Afterward, take a few minutes to jot down how you felt. Not a formal journal entry. Just a few notes:

  • What surprised you?
  • What delighted you?
  • What did you learn about yourself?
  • What did your inner artist whisper, now that you gave it the mic?

This helps you build trust with yourself, and track what kind of dates truly energize you.

Why It Matters

Admittedly, your first artist date might feel silly at first. Allow it to. The truth is you are doing something unconventional that the average person doesn’t take time to do—feeding your inner artist. Remember: creativity isn’t just about output. It’s about input. Most of us are running on empty, trying to produce when we haven’t played in ages.

Artist Dates:

  • Reignite your imagination.
  • Give you unexpected ideas.
  • Help you feel more alive and less stuck.
  • Remind you that you are worth showing up for.

And that’s the magic, isn’t it? When you nurture your creative self—your inner artist—it spills over into your work, relationships, confidence, and everything else.

Your Assignment This Week

Now here’s the challenge for you: Plan an artist date this week. Yes, you read that right.

  • Pick a time within the next seven days. Commit to it. Write it on your calendar. No excuses.
  • Choose something playful, strange, or delightful.
  • Go solo. Be present. Let yourself enjoy it.

Report back even if it’s just to yourself. You’re doing more than going on a little outing—you’re telling your creative self, “Hey, I see you. You matter. Let’s make some magic.” Now get out there. Your inner artist is waiting.

Your Guide For the Ultimate Fall Weekend in L.A. https://msrachelhollis.com/2025/11/06/your-guide-for-the-ultimate-fall-weekend-in-l-a/ Thu, 06 Nov 2025 14:00:00 +0000 https://msrachelhollis.com/?p=52491 It’s fall in Los Angeles—that sweet spot where the sun still shines, the air gets crisp (by SoCal standards), and the city is practically begging you to get out and explore. If you’re looking to turn your average weekend into a full-blown highlight reel, we have some ideas for you. Lace up your sneakers, charge that phone, and get ready for an all-star lineup of iconic L.A. stops perfect in the fall weather. Let’s go!

Sunrise Hustle: Hike at Runyon Canyon

First, we stop at Runyon Canyon. This is a great way to kick off your day in Los Angeles and get your heat rate up, all in one. Rachel swears by daily movement for at least 30 minutes, and you’ll definitely speed that time, if not more, here. When it comes to Runyon Canyon, we’re talking killer city views, celebrity sightings, and a solid sweat to jumpstart your day. Whether you’re a rookie or a seasoned trail MVP, Runyon’s got options — from the moderate “I just came for the views” loop to the “I love burning calves” route.

  • Pro Tip: Hit the trail early (like 7 a.m.) to beat the crowds and soak in that golden morning light.
  • What to bring: Water, sunglasses, and your, “I woke up like this” selfie face — you’ll want a photo at the top.

Victory Vibes: Hollywood Sign in the background, dogs jogging by, and your heart rate up. That’s how we win mornings in L.A.!

Carb Load Like a Champion: Fuel Up at The Griddle Cafe

The Griddle Cafe in Los Angeles is an absolute brunch beast. They’re known for their flavor-packed pancakes—we’re talking bigger-than-your-plate huge—and an atmosphere that’s pure Hollywood hustle. Whether you go for the “Banana Nana” stacks or something savory like the “Poached y Papas,” every dish feels like a celebration. It’s a legendary local favorite, perfect for refueling after a hike or just treating yourself to a breakfast blowout. Now it’s not Rachel’s green smoothie, but it’s still a lot of fun. Come hungry—leave victorious!

  • Pro Tip: Don’t be afraid to fill your plate with carbs and protein. L.A. is a city constantly on the move, so you’ll need the energy.
  • What to bring: Your appetite

Classy Timeout: Greystone Mansion & Gardens

Now that we’ve refueled and earned a bit of a breather, let’s pivot into elegance. Time for a mid-morning cooldown at Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills. This historic estate is straight-up cinematic — think grand staircases, lush gardens, and architecture that makes you feel like you’re in a Gatsby scene. Also, rumor has it that it’s haunted, so it’s perfect for the casual fall stroll.

  • Why it’s a Win: Free admission, peaceful paths, and an absolute stunner of a location. You’ll recognize it from a ton of films — and trust me, your Instagram will thank you.
  • Pro Tip: Stroll the gardens, channel your inner royalty, and take a moment to appreciate the quiet.

For an instant mood booster, snap a photo by the fountain or the stone archways.

Art Attack: The Getty Center

Hydrated? Recharged? Good, because the next item to cross off your bucket list is a visit to The Getty Center. This is where culture meets jaw-dropping scenery. Take the tram up the hill, and boom — you’re hit with modern architecture, stunning gardens, and art that’ll have you stopping in your tracks.

  • Must-Sees: Van Gogh’s Irises, the Central Garden, and the panoramic views of the city and ocean. On a clear fall day? Chef’s kiss.
  • Pro Tip: Don’t rush. This is your long drive up the field — pace yourself, explore, and let the creativity refuel your soul.

Sunset from the Getty is truly a winning moment. If you stay late, you win the weekend.

Sip on a Seasonal Drink: Chill Tea & Coffee at The Streets of Brentwood

To reflect on your all-star day, hit up the cozy Chill Tea & Coffee at The Streets of Brentwood café—a bit of a hidden gem in nearby Brentwood. Grab a fall-themed drink like their Pumpkin Pie Pour Over Coffee topped with cinnamon or their Pumpkin Fog, their take on a “Bay Area Fog” with pumpkin flavor infused. Whether it’s a pumpkin latte, a crisp salad, or some comfort carbs — you’ve earned it.

  • Pro Tip: You can grab a quick bite there or take it to the bluff at Palisades Park for a laid-back picnic with ocean views.

So, you hiked like a champ, chilled like royalty, soaked in world-class art, and topped it all off with views and vibes. That, my friends, is how you own fall in Los Angeles. So next time someone says, “What’s there to even do in L.A. in the fall?” — you hand them this guide, flash a confident smile, and say: “Now rest up, hydrate, and get ready to do it all again next weekend.”

Becoming a Skiing Family https://msrachelhollis.com/2024/02/26/becoming-a-skiing-family/ Mon, 26 Feb 2024 22:01:56 +0000 https://msrachelhollis.com/?p=52119 Recently, my kids had four full days off school. One day off for President’s Day, two for the weekend and one for something their school calls a “pupil free day.” *I’m guessing this is some kind of staff development day, but I like to think that teachers and admin use it for self-care. In my imagination, they all get at-home spa days and order takeout and catch up on season two of the Gilded Age.*

So, we used the long weekend to go skiing in Montana and had the MOST incredible time! Becoming a “ski fam” is a recent event (only about two years old), but it’s one of my favorite things we’ve ever done as a family. Here’s why!

skiing family

Family Adventure is Our Fave

Our favorite family times are whenever we’re all together laughing, playing, eating in a new / different environment. Once I realized our “secret sauce” for incredible family memories, I began building our years around those kinds of trips. Seriously. I’ve always loved staying active and luckily my family does, too; family vacations with physical activity and lots of opportunity to laugh is our jam— so skiing is a perfect option.

skiing family

We Were ALL Beginners

With the exception of my boo (who is European and therefore an exceptional skier by birth), the rest of us had no idea what we were doing. As much as it was daunting to learn to ski at 39 (I was about as graceful as a drunk baby rhino!), we were all in it together.

It’s been so cool to progress as a team. In the beginning, our conversations were all about how much we fell. Now our conversations are about how fast we went or which runs were most challenging for us.

skiing family

Everyone Can Go at Their Own Pace

Before I started skiing, I had no idea that there are different paths for every kind of skier based on their skill level. This means that Noah and I can do simpler runs together while my teenagers work on blues and my boyfriend does a black diamond.

Everyone works their way down the mountain in a way that’s most fun for them. Then we all meet up for hot cocoa or coffee at the bottom to discuss our runs. I love that there’s something on the mountain for each of us and we can all experience it in different ways.

skiing family

Maybe the coolest thing about skiing is that I never – not in a million years – imagined I’d take it up or that our family would adopt it as a pastime. While downhill skiing might not be for everyone, I think it’s worth considering how we can remain open to new adventures.

I bet your life 10 years ago is so different than it is today. So if you’ve changed so much over the last 10 years, what makes you think you won’t continue to change, adjust, grow and flourish over the next decades? It’s fun to imagine what the future version of you is into that the current version of you hasn’t even discovered yet. I hope whatever it is, is full of adventure and makes your spirit come alive.

Going to the RISE Conference Alone is OK! https://msrachelhollis.com/2020/02/18/going-to-the-rise-conference-alone-is-ok/ Wed, 19 Feb 2020 03:39:08 +0000 https://msrachelhollis.com/?p=50996 Have you been to one of our RISE Women’s conferences yet? It’s a whole weekend dedicated to women who come together from every background, ethnicity, and religion in a place of community. You will leave feeling invigorated and have all the motivation to reach your potential!

Now I get it. Going alone seems daunting, doesn’t it? But the thing is, it’s actually pretty awesome because you can be exactly who you are without worrying what anyone else is thinking, and soak in every ounce.

Don’t believe me? Read these amazing testimonials from women who have gone solo and LOVED it!

Still a little skeptical? Here’s a fun little fact: 48% of people go alone, and guess what? They don’t leave alone! We have a “Flying Solo” lounge dedicated to all the women who are coming to the conference by themselves! They make lifelong friendships, and meet people they wouldn’t have if they were to go with somebody! It’s the perfect place to meet other gals who might be in the same boat as you, and who knows? You might walk away with a new friend who might be exactly who you needed to meet!

5 Things To Expect At A Conference https://msrachelhollis.com/2020/02/05/5-things-to-expect-at-a-conference/ Wed, 05 Feb 2020 15:29:24 +0000 https://thechicsite.com/?p=50451 Personal growth conferences are quite possibly my favorite thing in the whole world and the crazy thing is, I’d never even heard the term “personal development” six years ago. Now don’t get me wrong, I knew all about business conferences. I’ve been an entrepreneur since I was 21 years old… an entrepreneur I might add, who is self-taught. I read books and watched YouTube videos and when podcasts started I was first in line to consume their wisdom. I did everything I could to become a stronger leader for my small company and that meant gaining all of the knowledge I could find which is what eventually led me to conferences.

I started out attending event planning conferences (I owned a wedding/event firm at the time.) Next came more general business conferences where entrepreneurs at every level came together to learn to scale. Between the ticket price and the travel, I could only afford to attend one conference a year and it took me the entire year to save up for the next one but I always felt like they were great investments of my time. I came back home recharged and inspired and ready to implement the things I’d learned. I suppose that’s when I first started wondering if there were events where I could learn how to be a better person, not just a better boss. It wasn’t until years later while going to therapy to try and overcome the debilitating anxiety that I finally bought a ticket for my first PD conference. It fundamentally changed my life (I wrote all about it in my book Girl, Wash Your Face) and it also made me want to create a similar experience that was just for women. That idea is what led me to plan my very first RISE Conference back in 2017.

Chances are if you’re reading this it’s because you’ve bought a ticket for one of my conferences this year and you’re curious about what to expect OR you’re considering buying a ticket but want to understand what it’s all about. If you’ve never been to a conference before it can feel intimidating and those nerves keep all sorts of people from trying one out because they’re unsure what to expect. To that end, I wanted to give some insight on what to expect when you attend my conference… that way you can make a more informed opinion on whether or not it’s right for you.

Expect to Gain Knowledge – The main reason to attend a conference –no matter if it’s personal or professional– is to acquire new tools for your tool kit. You’ll hear from multiple speakers who all bring a different perspective to the conference’s core message. Ideally, all of the speakers will say something that prompts you to think differently or ask yourself some better questions. At our conferences, our core obsession is to give you as many ideas, inspiration and insights as we can in the time that we have you.

Expect to Hear From Me… a lot – Unlike many other conferences ours isn’t a revolving door of 40 different speakers. RISE women’s conference has a very specific objective: you feeling empowered to take full ownership of your life and having a clear plan to achieve your dreams. We’ve spent years designing activities and lessons and teachings that will help you tap into what’s blocking you and figure out how you overcome it. For each of the 3 conference days, I teach for 4+ hours of the 8-hour stretch. Other speakers are always a surprise and someone who compliments the work we’re doing not just someone who has a big Instagram following. Basically what I’m saying is, if you enjoy my style of teaching you’re going to love RISE. Not sure what my style of teaching is? Go check out my YouTube page

Expect to Find Community – The best thing about RISE –without exception– is the community that happens within our attendees. Women have made life long friendships, business connections and mentor/mentee relationships at every event we’ve planned. The number one question we get in advance of the conference is “Is it weird if I attend alone?” No way! In fact, 40% of our conference attendees come by themselves and then utilize our activities to find friends. We always say, you might come alone but you won’t be that way for long.

Expect to Move Around… a lot – I’m guessing by now you’ve seen video footage of everyone in the RISE audience jumping up and down or dancing around. People who’ve never been to conference just love to use this for fodder to make fun of us or say that we’re weird. The rationale behind the dancing throughout each day is actually really simple. 1. It keeps you engaged and awake. If you’ve ever sat somewhere for 8 hours then you know it can start to drag on… zero chance of that here because every 20 min or so you’re going to dance to some Beyonce. 2. Movement helps you deal with ALL the feelings. RISE conference ends up feeling a bit like 3-days of therapy and physical movement throughout helps you to shake off negative self-talk. 3. I believe deeply, obsessively that every person on earth who is physically capable of it should be moving their body and getting their heart rate up for at least 30 minutes a day. So… if I have you with me for three days I’m going to weave that practice into my teachings. I can’t tell you how many women have kick-started incredible health journeys at RISE simply because they didn’t know their bodies could move that much and it gave them a new perspective on what they’re capable of.

Expect to Leave on FIRE for Your Life – People attend personal development conferences for all kinds of reasons but the underlying prompt is that they want to make change. Some women come because they feel lost. Others come because they have a goal but aren’t sure how to make it real. Others because they know it’s time to let go of anger or shame or fear that’s been holding them back. Whatever the reason for attending you should know that everything we do is building to a crescendo on day three. We intentionally work to give you all the tools and inspiration and then plan it out so that you leave on fire for your life and your mission. We keep joking that we’re going to create letters or something that attendees can give to their spouse or friends and family that say “The woman I love attended RISE, here’s what to expect now…” because so many people leave conference having experienced a transformation.

So those are five things you can expect at a RISE Conference. If you have more questions check out the FAQ’s tab on the individual event pages or watch our documentary about conference on Amazon (it’s FREE if you have Prime) and it will give you a great idea of what to expect.

5 Things to Keep Your MOMENTUM Going After A Rise Conference https://msrachelhollis.com/2020/02/04/5-things-to-keep-your-momentum-going-after-a-rise-conference/ Tue, 04 Feb 2020 17:37:40 +0000 https://thechicsite.com/?p=50894

1 //  GET HARDCORE ABOUT A MORNING ROUTINE!

You guys already know that I wax on about this endlessly, but it’s only because I know how powerful it is to set your intentions and layout your goals at the start of each day. Want to see what my morning routine looks like? Watch this youtube video to get a glimpse! Want to focus in on just the goal-setting part? Here are a few of my must-haves!

  • Start with gratitude practice! Write down at least 5 things everyday you’re grateful for. Remember to list out things that have happened within the last 24 hours so you force yourself to be on the lookout all day for blessings!
  • Write down the 3 results that you want to produce today. Not just to-do’s but three needle moving things that would push your goal closer to the finish line. Keep in mind…these usually aren’t fun things. In fact,
  • Lastly, write out how your day lays out in hours in an old school paper calendar. If your calendar is anything like mine, it’s packed to the gills and if you’re looking at that digitally it’s hard to see inefficiencies. My calendar is digital + color code (because I love all the organization in my life!) but every weekday morning, I write it out to see where I have holes, and when to eat because I will sadly forget if I don’t put it somewhere in my schedule. Setting intentionality with my calendar each day has been a game changer for me.

2 // SIGN UP FOR BUSINESS COACHING

If you’ve never tried out my monthly LIVE BUSINESS COACHING, now is a great time to give it a try and get some of that RISE energy in the comfort of your own home. Coaching is 2 hours of teaching + course work and if you watch live, there’s a chat roll for interaction.

3 // PICK UP ONE OF OUR FAVORITE  BUSINESS BOOKS!

4 // MAKE SURE YOU’RE FOLLOWING US ON SOCIAL MEDIA!

5 // LISTEN TO THE RISE PODCAST

Fall Travel Style https://msrachelhollis.com/2018/10/20/fall-travel-style/ Sat, 20 Oct 2018 22:51:39 +0000 https://thechicsite.com/?p=50002 Tomorrow I’m flying up to San Francisco for work.

It will be my fourth business trip in as many weeks, so sister, I know a thing or two about what to wear when you travel. In the summer it’s a bit easier to figure out ensembles but in the fall it takes just the right amount of layering. This outfit is my favorite to fly in when I don’t have to go directly from the plane to a meeting (that’s a whole other level of style). The lightweight sweater is great for layering, it’s super flattering to every body type.

Also, can I get a witness for the leggings?

They’re Spanx so they hold it ALL in. Not enough that you can wear them as pants (hello, aint nobody need to see the junk in my trunk under such thin fabric) but they’re great to wear under something longer. I love them so much I bought them in three different styles/prints. I’m tagging some of my favorites below so you can find the perfect option for you.

This also makes a super great option for dropping off the kids at school — which is why you’ll see me rocking it at least once a week.

My backpack is from Tumi which is definitely pricier but I just replaced my old Tumi after FIVE years together. You guys, nothing on the planet holds up better for business trips and holding your laptop and keeping you hands-free when you’re on the go. If you don’t have that kind of budget I’ve also included some bags that keep this look but do it for WAY less.

How To Update Your Spring Travel Style https://msrachelhollis.com/2018/05/01/how-to-spring-travel-style/ Tue, 01 May 2018 17:30:54 +0000 https://thechicsite.com/?p=50253 Currently, I’m on a plane on my way to Atlantic City! I’m going to be in town for less than 24 hours to speak to some KILLER sales people tomorrow morning. Since today is a casual travel style situation — meaning I don’t have to go from the plane to a meeting– I thought I’d share some of my new favorite travel options.

|  sweater  |  leggings   |  shoes   |  bag   |  sunglasses  |

I’m a big believer in looking cute when you travel but I don’t think that means you have to give up comfort… I just disguise my comfort. Leggings are my go-to for casual traveling because I can pair them with pretty much anything. The only two rules here? Make sure your leggings are not see through and wear something on top that covers up your bum. I found these leggings from NIKE last week and I dig the ribbing which adds a cool texture– kind of like the moto leggings I couldn’t stop wearing last season.

This sweater is perfect because it keeps me warm on the plane and it’s chic. I adore the lacing detail at the bottom and the hood I will never actually wear up in real life.

I literally gasped when I saw these sneakers at the Nike store last week. Between the color, the brand and the leopard print they are honestly my dream shoe! Plus, they’re Nike free-runs  so they come in more than one color! I wear these on the plane but I’ll wear them later when I hit up the hotel gym. Winning!

For accessories, I like to travel with a couple must-haves. First is a good bag that I can put all my stuff in. Depending on the trip I like to either take my backpack or a great tote bag like this one.  Second is a great pair of shades! If I don’t have to go straight to a meeting or dinner after the plan then I won’t wear any makeup. So the best way to cover up some tiredness is with a pair of big sunglasses. Lastly is a reusable water bottle. I can’t say this enough but if you take away anything from this post is that when you travel you need to make sure you stay hydrated. Not only does your skin become dehydrated on the plane but if you travel as much as me sometimes is not so easy to grab a water bottle when you’re going from one thing to the next. I pack a reusable bottle and then I fill it up over and over throughout the trip.

If you want to see more ideas on how I stay on top of it while I am traveling for work then check out the video below:
